Jaimie's due date was October 20. Throughout her pregnancy the due date changed a few times, but the doctor's decided to use the original date as her due date. On Tuesday, October 21 Jaimie went to the doctor because she was having labor pains. The doctor told her to come in tomorrow because it was time to augment the baby's birth. The doctor noticed that the amniotic fluid was getting low and decided it was time. Jaimie went home a packed a bag!
On Wednesday, October 22, 2008, Brian and Jaimie left for Kishwaukee Community Hospital.
Timeline:
7:30am: Arrive at Hospital and proceed directly to maternity ward.
8:00am: Check into room 2610.
8:15am: Jaimie is administered Pitocin.
8:30am: Mama G (Gigi) arrives.
10:00am: Increase Pitocin.
12:20pm: Dr. Atkins breaks Jaimie's water. Dr. notices a bowel movement and is concerned.
1:05pm: Grandma Valentini arrives.
1:15pm: Danny sends a text message telling Jaimie to push harder. Jaimie is not amused.
2:00pm: VERY SCARY! The nurse notices a decrease in the baby's heart rate. The doctor is called and several nurses come in. A new fetal heart rate monitor is attached to the baby. If this happens again the doctor does not want to take any more chances and will do a c section.
3:15pm: SCARY! As Jaimie is (unsuccessfully) being administered an epidural, the baby's heart rate drops again. Doctor is called and they prep Jaimie for surgery. Brian is given hospital scrubs and the two grandmothers are told to wait in the hallway.
4:00pm: Jaimie is wheeled out of the room in the operating room. Brian is told to wait in hallway while the doctors begin the procedure.
4:15pm: The doctors allow Brian to enter the operating room.
4:19pm: Jackson Rocco Valentini enters the world. He asks for a slice of pizza and a football (actually he cried).
4:30: After being cleaned off and tested, Brian and Jackson Rocco leave the operating room and head for the nursery to bathe Jackson Rocco while Jaimie is recovering. Waiting to watch through the glass windows are GiGi and Grandma Valentini. The nurse and Brian bathe, measure, weigh, tag, and footprint Jackson Rocco. He is 22 inches long and 8lbs 2.5 oz.
5:00pm: Aunt Katie arrives.
5:30pm: Brian and Jackson Rocco head to our new room (2608) and are greeted by Aunt Katie, GiGi (Grandma Valentini had to leave) and of course, an extremely proud mother - Jaimie.
The rest of the day was filled with joy and trying to get Jackson Rocco to feed. Grandpa Gurney, Uncle Mark, Uncle Danny, Aunt Lauren, and Aunt Jill came to visit Jackson Rocco on his first day.
